You love movies. You are hardworking. But you have had difficulties breaking into the film industry. You can't get a job because you are told that you don't have enough experience.
One way to get started with minimal or no experience is to arrange for an internship with a film or television company. Most of these openings are unpaid positions, but they will help you build your resume, gain experience and develop important new contacts. Internships, however, can be extremely hard to find and nearly impossible to land because of the intense competition in the field.
When you are an intern for The Dream Depot, you will promote our upcoming films and television shows. You learn about the inner workings of the independent film and television industry and possibly make some great connections. Other responsibilities will normally include: research on the Internet, the reading of scripts and the evaluation of projects.
Now: while we are not looking for any production interns at this time, we currently are seeking an 'Internet Research Intern' in our development department. Although the internship is unpaid, it offers compensation in the form of experience and networking. The candidate should have a professional and friendly demeanor, an articulate phone manner, should possess computer skills, and a high degree of organizational and clerical skills. You should have a desire to learn about script writing, development, and producing in the independent film community.
In addition to the great experience, you will gain from this opportunity, you will be rewarded with t-shirts, movies, music, other great swag and occasional access to film premiers and after parties. You may even earn a screen or academic credit. This position offers the opportunity for you to work out of your home with flexible hours.
Please Note Again: At this time we are currently looking for interns to do Internet market research only. All other internship positions are currently filled. On the other hand as other company needs develop, interns are given the upper hand to fill higher positions. In effect, our internship is a stepping stone to much better opportunities. In the past, we have hired only two interns for this position and both are currently doing more important work for us at this time.
